Registration is open for the 2011 Reaching Forward Conference, which will be held Friday, May 6, at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont.

Charu Thakral (UIC Office of Diversity) and Donna Baptiste (UIC Center for Research on Women and Gender and Department of Psychiatry) will speak on “The Promise and Possibility of Inter Group Dialogue for Diversity and Social Justice Education.” The program, sponsored by campus’s Centers for Diversity, takes place on Wednesday, March 9, 3:30 – 5 p.m., in the African American Cultural Center, 207 Addams Hall.
Drs. Baptiste and Thakral will review the history and development of Inter Group Dialogue (IGD), facilitate a student panel discussing the role of IGD in enriching students’ experiences outside the classroom, and describe efforts underway to institutionalize IGD at UIC.
