The Illinois Library Association is sponsoring the Reaching Forward Conference for library support staff on Friday, May 9, 2008, at the Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont. For detailed information, please view the attached flyer.
On Friday, Feb. 22, 2008 the ILA Executive Board reviewed seventeen key library bills and determined the association’s position on these bills. ILA is currently tracking approximately sixty bills that have an impact on libraries, and the ILA’s Web site posts those bills with their full text, status, sponsors, hearing dates, etc.
Portico and the Koninklijke Bibliotheek, the National Library of the Netherlands (the KB), are pleased to announce they have reached an agreement for an off-line copy of the Portico archive, which exceeds 6 million articles and 60 million files, to be held for safekeeping by the KB. Through its e-Depot program, the KB has demonstrated its role in the vanguard of digital preservation. Continue reading

Lisa Zhao, assistant catalog librarian, has published a children’s book, “A Boy’s Artwork”. The book is based on Lisa’s son’s art works during his early childhood. The book was formally launched on Feb. 20, 2008.
