New hires

Diane Colletti has been hired as Assistant Information Services Librarian & Assistant Professor effective Jully 23, 2007.

James Conley has been hired as Library Assistant in the Circulation Department effective July 30, 2007.

Bakunas, Bengtson, Jacobson retire

Patricia Bakunas, Visiting Assistant Special Collections Librarian, is retiring effective Aug. 15, 2007 after 20 years of university service.

Marjorie Bengtson, Assistant Documents Librarian, retired effective June 30, 2007 after 48 years of university service

Susan Jacobson, Visiting Coordinator of Communications and Marketing, is retiring effective Aug. 15, 2007 after 8 years of university service


Linda Naru will be leaving her present position of Library’s Director of Advancement to take on the position of Coordinator of Marketing and Communications for the University Library effective Aug. 16, 2007. In this position, Linda will be leading the Library’s efforts to increase its visibility among both campus and community constituencies.

Linda will continue to manage the Library’s advancement program until the new Director is hired.

New Hires

Janet McMahon has been hired as a Library Assistant effective July 16, 2007 at LHS/Rockford.

Jessica Smith has been hired as a Library Assistant effective July 30, 2007 at LHS/Urbana.

Shuler named to Public Printer’s Depository Library Council

John Shuler, Bibliographer for Urban Planning and Government Information/Documents Librarian and Associate Professor, has been asked to serve a three-year term on the Public Printer’s Depository Library Council. Previously he was head of the documents department at Colgate University. Shuler has published extensively on the policy implications of government information in electronic media, and is a strong advocate of virtual reference. He worked with GPO to create our first ever formal partnership with the FDLP, and spearheaded a 30 library virtual reference collaboration that GPO is taking steps to endorse through a formal partnership.

Student Employment Wages

The following student employment wages are effective July 1, 2007 through June 30, 2008:

  • Student Library Aide $8.01
  • Student Library Assistant $8.96
