Using Video and Audio Enhanced Tools for Instruction
“Using Video and Audio Enhanced Tools for Instruction” on Thursday, May 31, 2007, is sponsored by Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville’s Lovejoy Library. This workshop is being funded by a FY07 Emerging Technologies and Methodologies LSTA (Library Services and Technology Act) Grant.
Come hear about “VIISUAL: Video and Audio-enhanced Interactive Instruction Sessions Utilizing Appropriate Digital Library Resources” — a pilot study designed to investigate the effectiveness of using interactive web-based conferencing technology to deliver library information and resources to nursing and pharmacy students at SIUE.

Documentary on Italian-Americans includes UIC Library Special Collections
“And They Came to Chicago” is a documentary describing 150 years of Italians in Chicago. Segments highlight the neighborhood of UIC (one of several Little Italys in Chicago) and photographs and other historical materials from UIC’s Special Collections as well as from the Chicago History Museum and other local archives. Joe Mantegna narrates the program.
The documentary airs on NBC5 on Sunday, May 27, at 11 p.m. and Monday, May 28, at noon. It also will be shown on WTTW11 on Tuesday, June 5, at 7:30 p.m.

Books in print training
A representative from Bowker, Inc., Ted Gayford, will present a training session on Books in Print, Wednesday, May 30, 2007, 2-3 p.m. in the ELL (1-330 LIB). Those in the library who use this database and/or wish to learn more about using it are welcome. A Centra E-rooms event is also available for the regional sites to participate.
